Source Code by Weave

A new standard for aviation textiles - delivering end-to-end visibility, compliance, and lifecycle intelligence in response to the EU’s Digital Product Passport revolution.

A single economy blanket can travel over 75,000 km and consume more than 650 litres of water during its lifecycle, yet today, almost none of this impact is measured at an item level.

Weave Intelligence today announces the launch of Source Code, a powerful new product within its software ecosystem designed to transform how aviation textiles are tracked, understood, and managed across their entire lifecycle. Built in direct response to the European Union’s forthcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Source Code™  provides a comprehensive digital identity for every textile item, ensuring compliance, transparency, and operational insight at scale.

Source Code by Weave delivers automated Digital Product Passport (DDP) (EU) (ESPR) reporting – utilising RFID tags to drive unitary reporting at scale for onboard textiles items.

As regulatory pressure mounts and timelines accelerate toward a likely 2027 mandate for textiles sold and distributed within the EU, airlines, suppliers, and manufacturers face a critical challenge: how to capture, structure, and maintain highly granular product data across fragmented global supply chains. Source Code™ solves this problem by embedding rich, standardised data directly into each textile asset, linked seamlessly via RFID and EPC-enabled infrastructure. At its core, Source Code™  turns every item into a living data asset with a full rich manufacturing history – fully auditable to each specific manufacturing location, product batch and shipment. Each textile is assigned a unique digital identity, accessible via our integrated RFID tag, unlocking a structured manufacturing record master dataset that travels with the product from manufacture through to end-of-life.

Specifically, this includes:

Full material composition, including fibres and blends

•Country of origin and multi-tier supply chain traceability

•Factory, batch, and production-level data

Environmental footprint metrics, including carbon impact

•Chemical compliance and sustainability certifications (e.g. OEKO-TEX, GRS)

•Durability, repairability, and expected lifespan insights

•Recycling instructions and end-of-life guidance

For the aviation industry, where textiles such as onboard soft furnishings move across complex global networks, this level of visibility is not just about compliance; it’s about control. Source Code ™ enables its customers to understand exactly where each textile it came from, its material and carbon composition, how it performs, and how it should be managed throughout its lifecycle.

Crucially, Source Code™ is not a static database. It is a live, interoperable data infrastructure, continuously updated through Weave’s platform as products move, are used, or retired. This ensures that every stakeholder, from manufacturers to airline operators have access to accurate, real-time information aligned with evolving regulatory standards.

With the ESPR legislation already in force as of 2024, and detailed textile requirements expected by 2026, the window for preparation is rapidly closing. Companies that fail to implement compliant Digital Product Passports risk losing access to EU markets entirely. This applies not only to European manufacturers, but also to UK and global suppliers placing products into the EU.

Source Code™ positions Weave and its partners at the forefront of this transformation, bridging the gap between regulatory compliance and operational intelligence. By unifying product data, digital identity, and physical tracking into a single ecosystem, Weave is enabling the aviation industry to move beyond compliance and toward a more transparent, sustainable, and data-driven future.

The future of textiles isn’t just physical. It’s digital. Trust Source Code™ to deliver for you.
